So true Gabriella! Key points: slow down, imagine before, reflect after - jumping from client to client without a nano second inbetween is going to be neither rewarding or effective. ~ Anna

In 18th century, the British power spread its colony rapidly in India by defeating other colonialist power like France and Portugal. The main rival was France. However, within few years, the dream of French colony was demolished by the British and French existence was confined in a few small territories of India. There are two main centers of french colony: Pondicherry (area- 492 sq.km) and Chandannagar ( area- 19 sq.km.). As a resident of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta, the capital of British India in 19th century), I have some idea about Chandannagar which is 39 km away from Kolkata.. it is a very small area. You can imagine a tiny french island within the vast british colony. Before independence of India, the main language of Chandannagar was French- within 19 sq. km! It is a center of french culture, still today! A few days ago, Every child of Chandannagar knew French as French was compulsory language in the town. The inhabitants of the town are still proud for not was the part of British Indiafor anytime. Amazing, isn't it?

Hi Gabrielle
I agree with a lot of things you say, I've been teaching business English in Germany for almost fourteen years. However, I disagree with ur emphasis on havins studied anything. I went to University in Heidelberg and I considered it mostly a waste of time...too much theory.
What a business English teacher in Germany really needs is personality, cosmopolitan experience, organisational talent, know where to hunt for relevant class material, be informed about what's going on in the German business world, an above average education, speak German well, understand the German mentality, tact and sensitivity to the students needs, ability to prioritise relevant material for class use ( pointless to concentrate on grammar if the student needs full phrases to communicate fast), the list of soft skills is endless. But I do agree with most of your views
